Features and Functionality

Which medical conditions aren't treated in virtual settings?

Conditions that require an in-person consultation should not be treated remotely. Please ask patients to see an in-person healthcare provider, or seek medical attention at a hospital if your patient is experiencing any of the following:

  • Traumatic brain or spinal cord injuries
  • Chest pain and/or numbness
  • Vomiting blood or coughing blood
  • Lacerations
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Broken bones
  • Severe burns
  • Ear infections
  • Any other healthcare issues that require emergency response
Which medical conditions do physicians treat via ViClinic?

Patients treated in a virtual setting typically have acute care needs that don’t require a trip to the emergency room. Some examples of the conditions healthcare providers treat virtually include:

Acute Bronchitis, Headache, Fever, Conjunctivitis, Influenza, Back pain, UTI, Respiratory Infection, Sprains and Strains, Sinusitis, Diarrhea, Pharyngitis, and Exacerbations of Chronic diseases like Asthma or Diabetes.

ViClinic can be used to manage chronic healthcare conditions by supporting, directing, and educating the patients. It can also be used to monitor patient rehabilitation after various surgeries and other medical procedures.

How long is a typical online consultation?

A typical doctor visit online through the ViClinic lasts about 10 to 15 minutes; the amount of time needed to handle most medical issues. Most in-person medical visits typically last somewhere about 10 minutes—but also require patients to travel, sit in a waiting room, and then finally wait to be seen in the exam room. Of course, online consultations can and last longer should a physician deem it necessary.

How does ViClinic’s appointment scheduling work for patients?

Patients have a few options when scheduling a virtual visit with ViClinic physicians:

  • If the patient does NOT know who to visit:
To make requests for on-demand or ASAP visits, or to schedule an appointment, patients can select their preferred specialty and language. Then, patients complete a medical questionnaire for their EHR (electronic health records) and pay for the service. Viclinic’s algorithm will match and suggest the appropriate physicians and healthcare service providers based on patient needs.
If a patient selects the specialty and language that matches yours, you will receive an available visit request notification, as well as a detailed description of the patient’s health concerns. From this point, you can either accept or decline the request for an appointment.
Once you accept a patient’s virtual visit request, you can specify the start time for your appointment. Before the visit starts you will have access to the patient’s Electronic Health records (EHR) for review.
  • If the patient knows which provider they would like to see:
Patients can schedule visits with their dedicated physician or healthcare provider. If you are listed on a patient’s My Doctor list, you can get visit requests directly from your patient. Medical professionals can send invitations to all of their existing patients so they can consult with them through ViClinic’s virtual platform.
  • If the patient wants to schedule follow-up visits with the same provider:
Physicians can conduct repeat consultations with patients when needed. You can schedule follow-up calls at the end of your first consultation with a patient, or go back and schedule a follow-up later.

Billing and Pricing

How much does an online visit cost for patients who use ViClinic?

Physicians have various options to get and manage extra earnings.

Price 1: There is a set, standard price for on-demand visits with unknown patients. This price varies based on each healthcare provider’s specialties, as well as the preferred language used during a visit, and the provider and patient’s country.

Price 2: Healthcare providers and physicians can set up a separate price-per-consult for patients listed in their “My Patients” group.

Reimbursement: Providers can explore other payment options, including reimbursement from health insurance companies to see if a visit to you is covered by them.

Does ViClinic accept health insurance?

Many health plans and employers provide virtual health platform coverage as part of their benefits. Patients can discover if they are covered by setting up their account online at ViClinic, or by reaching out to their benefits manager. If a patient does not have access to health plans or employer benefits, they can set up an account to pay physicians directly.

How does ViClinic process payments for services?

ViClinic uses Stripe to enable payment between patients and physicians. Once you have registered for the ViClinic platform, Stripe may contact you to confirm various bank account information. The submission process requires approximately 15 minutes to complete. Stripe may require additional time to confirm verification as well. This one-time process helps us ensure payment integrity and confirm physicians who participate on our platform are real and verified.
